Prof. Matar is a Professor of Fluid Mechanics in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. His current research interests include the modelling of multiphase flows driven by Marangoni stresses, surface and bulk diffusion, gravitational, capillary, intermolecular forces and parametric forcing, placing emphasis on hydrodynamic instabilities and pattern formation, with industrial and biomedical applications. These include fouling, oil-and-gas transportation, intensive processing, coating flow technology, surfactant replacement therapy, micro-fluidics and microelectronics manufacturing. He has co-authored 127 articles in prestigious journals and has an h-index of 26. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Multiphase Science and Technology, an Associate Executive Editor of Journal of Engineering Mathematics, and on the Editorial Board of International Journal of Multiphase Flow. Within UNIHEAT, Prof. Matar is the leader for sub-project 5 “Fluid dynamics and rheology near fluid-surface interface".
