UNIHEAT sponsored the 13th UK Heat Transfer Conference (UKHTC 2013) in London on 2nd and 3rd September 2013.
The UK Heat Transfer Conference, hosted this year at Imperial College London, is the premier UK forum for international researchers in this field and was attended by representatives from both industry and academia.
Our team were out in force this year, sharing details of UNIHEAT’s applied research in heat exchange and catalysis and showcasing the new technologies being developed. In addition to sponsoring the conference, speakers included our own Dr. Christos Markides (Theme 4, Imperial College London), who was also the conference co-chair, Professor Geoffrey Hewitt (Theme 7, Imperial College London), who delivered a keynote lecture entitled “On-going Challenges in Multiphase Flow and Boiling” and Dr. Francesco Coletti (Industry Engagement Manager, Imperial Consultants), who chaired the two sessions dedicated to Heat Exchangers.
Two UNIHEAT papers were also presented: “An assessment of working-fluid mixtures for use in organic rankine cycles for waste-heat recovery using SAFT-VR” by O. A. Oyewunmi et al, and “An external combustion heat engine with phase-change working fluid” by A. Samoilov et al.
UNIHEAT’s Industry Engagement Manager, Dr. Francesco Coletti explains:
“It is part of UNIHEAT’s remit and dissemination strategy to be involved in key events relating to heat exchange and catalysis. Participating in UKHTC 2013 not only raised awareness of UNIHEAT’s activity, it also allowed us to share knowledge and ideas with our peers within the academic and industrial communities. This is a major aspect of UNIHEAT’s remit and will undoubtedly benefit our field of research as a whole.”
